A proclivity is a tendency to choose or do something regularly; an inclination or predisposition toward a particular thing. Habitual cycles proliferate throughout daily activities and decision making. Each artist featured in this exhibition explores these tendencies in their practice. Beasley creates paintings that are abstractions of chance moments in life. Flynn is engaged in dialogue with the barrier between the natural world and the imposed constructs of contemporary society. Mark focuses on reaching the essence of invisible energy by inventing interconnecting forms that are suggestions of self-referential patterns. Smith-Day is exploring the manifestation of aura in personal objects and in the monumental. Painting, sculpture, installation, and video are presented as a discussion on these proclivities.
